The DMX-USB-RX-RLY8 module is fully compatible with the latest USITT DMX512-A standard, E1.11-2004. This small module, powered by a single 9V AC or 12V DC supply, has 8 relay outputs. These can be mechanical or solid state relays.

Connections
>The module can be powered either by a 9V AC transformer to the two screw terminals or by a 9V AC power supply. If you are not using the dimmer relays, you can use 12V DC instead, as the module cannot be powered from the USB port. The 120 Ohm termination bridge connects an on-board 120 Ohm resistor via the DMX, this should only be mounted on the last module of the DMX cable. Disconnect ALL other modules.
First steps
The factory default setting for your DMX USB RX RLY8 module is DMX address 1 and all relays are in On/Off mode. The on/off threshold is 128 with a hysteresis of 3. If the level falls below 127, the relay will turn off (open). When the level rises above 129, the relay switches on (closed). Stages 127 to 129 do nothing to protect themselves from jitter from the faders.

> It's more likely that you want to select a different DMX address or switch one or more solid state relays to dimming mode. This requires a PC with Windows 2k/XP/Vista.
You need these two files (in the installation file below):
The DMX_RLY8 configuration program.
The USB driver for Windows.
Unpack the DMX_RLY8 installation file into a temporary folder and click "Setup" to install it.
Then install the USB driver. If you are using Vista, temporarily disconnect your computer from the Internet by unplugging the network cable or turning off the wireless connection. Vista will go looking for a suitable driver and won't give you the chance to refer it to the right driver. The wrong driver is likely to be installed. If you disconnect the Internet first, it will be forced to ask you where to look. XP is fine, it asks you anyway. Connect the 18Vac supply to the module and then connect the USB cable. Windows should recognize the new module and ask for the driver. Direct windows to the file "inf" and windows install the driver. After installation you will have a new serial communication port which is listed in the Device Manager.
Fürun the DMX_RLY8 configuration program and you will see the following dialog. Select the new communication port and the module will be found and its software revision number will be displayed. The DMX address the module is currently set to is displayed, and if the module is receiving DMX, the levels are also visible.
&Achange Relay Mode
To select the dimmer mode for any relay, simply enable the check box and click the Update button. You should only do this if a solid state relay is attached to the module. If you do this with normal mechanical relays, they will only clatter constantly. To be able to use the dimmer mode, you must also supply the module with 9VAC. If you are using a DC power supply, the module switches to the normal relay mode.
