Nexus Robot 14159L – Left Mecanum Wheel 60 mm
The Nexus Robot 14159L is a left Mecanum wheel with a 60 mm diameter. The wheel has a width of 31 mm and 8 rollers. Wheel body: Aluminum alloy. Roller material: PP+PE.
Applications for the 14159L
The LEGO-compatible 14159 series is intended for small robots, educational projects and compact experimental builds. For a LEGO or Arduino project, check the hub connection and available mounting space before selecting the drive components.
- Robotics projects for education and Research
- Compact automation Solutions
- Prototyping and creative projects
Suitability for a specific project depends on the load, floor surface, drive, control system and mechanical design.
Version and chassis arrangement – 14159L
The 14159L is the left-hand version. When selecting an individual wheel, its left-hand roller arrangement must match the intended mounting position. Lateral, diagonal and rotational platform movement requires correctly arranged wheels and coordinated drives.
Materials and dimensions of the 14159L
Wheel body: Aluminum alloy. Roller material: PP+PE. The 31 mm width and specified weight of 86 g are included in the table below for installation planning.

Load capacity note: The specification 3 kg per wheel must be used with its stated basis. Do not derive a higher platform load by simply multiplying this figure; load distribution, center of gravity and driving maneuvers must be considered in the design.
Mounting and mechanical connection of the 14159L
Before installing the 14159L, check the wheel interface, shaft diameter, fasteners, bearing arrangement and clearance for the rollers. Select the hub or coupling from the actual interface and technical drawing. Wheel diameter alone does not establish compatibility with a particular accessory hub.
To integrate the Nexus Robot 14159L, plan the wheel, hub or coupling and motor shaft as one mechanical connection. The specified 31 mm wheel width needs to be considered alongside the position of the motor in the frame. Use the mounting interface and available technical files to establish how the wheel is secured and how much space remains between the wheel body, frame and drive.
The rollers need clearance around the entire wheel circumference. Allow space for screw heads, brackets and side covers, and consider wheel position, ground clearance and support of the drive. Matching the shaft bore is only one part of selecting the connection: the hub interface and fasteners must also suit the wheel. When replacing a wheel on an existing chassis, compare the removed component before reusing its motor or bracket.
14159L for LEGO robotics, education and mobile test platforms
The LEGO-compatible Nexus 14159L can support a small mobile robot build when its wheels and drives suit the chosen structure. An educational project can combine wheel selection with planning the frame, motors and controller. The specified 60 mm size provides a basis for assessing mounting space; the connection to the actual hub still needs a separate check.
In robotics teaching, workshops and development projects, a suitably assembled Mecanum chassis can demonstrate different movement patterns. Forward travel, sideways movement and rotation can be explored through individual drive control. Wheel positions and rotation directions need to be coordinated for this type of test platform. LEGO compatibility of the wheel does not establish compatibility with every motor and hub combination.
For a prototype using 14159L, consider the complete robot weight as well as the available mounting space. Include the frame, drives, electronics and additional equipment. The stated load capacity and PP+PE roller material remain the relevant product properties for selection. Assess their suitability for the intended floor surface as part of the complete build.
Selecting the 14159L individual wheel for a chassis
The 14159L is the left-hand version of this series. When ordering a replacement, compare the model number, roller arrangement and position on the vehicle. An individual wheel does not produce omnidirectional platform movement on its own. For a new build, the remaining wheels, motor connections and control system need to work together. Compare related versions or sets using their own specifications before making a selection.
