Phidgets ENC4107_0 Draw Wire Encoder 1.5m Draw Wire Encoder
In complex mechanical systems, it is often very difficult to accurately measure the motion of a single part, especially when it has multiple degrees of freedom. The Draw Wire Encoder is a versatile solution to this very problem. It can be attached to a part with an M5 screw or attached to the end with a cable tie, and the encoder itself has a pair of M5 threads on the back for easy installation.
When the wire is pulled out, the sensor generates a quadrature signal that describes the length of the exposed wire. The coil is spring-loaded, meaning it retracts when the wire is no longer under tension. Multiple wire pull sensors can be used to track position in more than one dimension.
Connection:
This quadrature encoder can be read from an encoder interface by attaching the appropriate connector to the end of the cable. See the Connection and Compatibility tab for more Information.
